The Gypsy West: Music

Landmine

(The Gypsy West)
2008-03
Alex Giorgetti, The Gypsy West
in the middle of the night
he threw out all his maps
sirens rose silent from
the moving black
the water was a trap
she batted dark eyes in moonlight
and said you know my name
and you know it well...

he had no fear
he was a man of the sea
she asked for simple things like
stories of stories and war
and what its like to feel so alone
he said its the moment right before
they cover your bones

and dont you know that
you're a landmine and you've got
my every step
and I'm sorry I cant move
or I'll blow to pieces of flesh

in that moment, they became
ageless
caught in an eternal staring
contest
and all their mythologies
forgot about their love stories
and the thousand miles to disarm
all the ringing words
on the shorelines of their minds
why dont our echoes
ever ring time?
